I had the privilege of attending Unleash the Power Within in Chicago earlier this month, then helping with an Advanced Skills Training for our new coaches. It was an amazing, exhausting, inspiring, incredible nine days! This is one of the videos shown during the training. If you haven't seen it, give yourself the gift of ten minutes to watch it right now. If you have seen it, watch it again.

What we see, experience, and feel with our five senses always comes after the decision to see, experience, and feel it." --Pam Grout The above quote comes from a book I am currently reading, "E-Squared: Nine Do-It-Yourself Energy Experiments That Prove Your Thoughts Create Your Reality." Incantations, affirmations, positive thinking, intentions--whatever you want to call it, this book offers more evidence that what you think about, you bring about. And it gives you some specific experiments to try so you can prove it to yourself. If you have coached with me for any length of time, we have no doubt talked about this very subject. Despite the fact that our lives reflect that language and we are unconsciously doing incantations already (I'm so stupid; what's wrong with me; I just look at food and gain weight; no matter how hard I try, I'm always broke, etc.), many people are resistant to trying on new language patterns (it feels awkward; it can't be that simple, etc.)
I challenge you to get the book, pick one of the experiments and try it for a couple of weeks. What have you got to lose? This has to be one of the most inspirational videos I have ever seen. Check it out and see if you don't agree. Today is the funeral service of a dear friend and mentor, John Lenberg. John passed away on Friday, June 7, surrounded by his family. I first met John in 1997. My husband and I took our then 17-year-old daughter to Kona, Hawaii, to attend our very first live Tony Robbins event: Life Mastery. At that time, for many reasons, we desperately needed something to be different. And, as Tony promised, life would never be the same again. In 1997, Life Mastery was a nine day event. It included a 50 foot pole climb and a 40 foot firewalk. We had no idea what we were getting into. As I said, it was our first live Tony event. I spent ten days in Hawaii, and never got to the beach once! When we registered, we found out we were being put into teams. Our daughter was on a different team. I was a little concerned, and wanted to meet her trainer. It was a man named John Lenberg. I expressed my concerns and told him some of what had been going on with my daughter. John immediately put me at ease and made of point of staying connected with her. His influence helped make that a truly life changing event for her. A few months later, I went to work as the administrative manager of the MUST team. John was one of the first people to welcome me to the team. He made me feel at home and constantly gave me encouragement and advice. He was brilliant, irreverent, naughty, and just so much fun. I could always count on John to make me laugh or teach me something. He was fully supportive when my daughter joined the team a few years later, and they continued to build the bond that began in Hawaii. John was a wonderful mentor to her and one of her best buddies on the team. He was able to offer her advice in a way no one else could. To quote my friend Lisa Morgan, John was one of the good guys. Rest in peace, John. Thank you for the way you touched my life. You will be missed. Watch this video. Then look at your own habits and rituals. Are they habits and rituals that are taking you toward the life you really want? If not, what could you start doing today to establish new habits? This is my client, Lauren, who just attended Business Mastery in Australia. Lauren has become a master at focusing on her outcomes instead of her fears. One of her outcomes was to not just attend Business Mastery, but to meet and get a picture with Tony before she left. As you can see, that's one more thing Lauren can check off her bucket list! How are things going with yours? Today, I have to acknowledge my awesome husband, Beau. At the beginning of the year, he got serious on taking care of his health and managing his weight. His blood pressure was too high, his weight was too high, his cholesterol was too high, and his energy was too low! Last year, he had emergency surgery for a carotid artery that was 90% blocked.
In January, he decided to join us in the 90 day challenge. He has lost over 25 pounds and is at his lowest weight since we've been married (which, by the way, is 30 years). His blood pressure and cholesterol are down. He feels great and he's back to swimming several times a week. I'm SO proud of him, and he's pretty damned proud of himself as well. Check out my lifestyle page to learn more. How many of you started with me on our 90 day challenge at the beginning of the year? How are you doing? We are just a little past the halfway mark. Are you on target for reaching your goals? If not, where do you need to adjust in order to make sure you finish strong? It's not too late! Get going!
Michael Nitti is one of our top coaches at RRI. He is also a dear friend, mentor, and one of my coaches. He posted this today, and I think it's worth sharing.
"It's not what you are looking at, it's what you see. For the most part, what you and I tend to "see" is what we expect to see, which is shaped by what we've seen before. Hence, how most of us react to situations in the present tends to replicate how we've always reacted, which is why people tend to live lives that are little more than regurgitated versions of the past. To break free, one must simply observe this occurring and STOP it. Give it up. Train yourSelf to see what is real and present in the NOW. Acknowledge the past and let it go. Live and love on purpose, which requires that you move toward something intentionally versus reacting from fear. YOU are the author of your own experience. Create!!" |
